Inspired by a stroll through Singapore Botanic Gardens' Ginger Garden, this marmalade brings together three members of the diverse Zingiberaceae family that grow there. Ginger, turmeric and cardamom combine with citrus to deliver wonderfully fragrant notes with a gently warming finish.
The story behind Straits Preserves began as a humble one. In 2011, there was an over abundance of calamansi limes growing on Sharon Lee’s balcony; not wanting to let them go to waste, she made them into a preserve. In 2012, after family and friends enjoyed her preserves so much, she began to perfect her recipes until they gave her the confidence to enter The World’s Original Marmalade Awards held in the UK. Amazingly, she won a total of 6 awards for her 3 flavours, including The World’s Best International Marmalade Award. The judges commented that Sharon’s marmalades had very unusual but excellent flavours and textures, and an interesting combination of ingredients.
This was the inspiration that created Straits Preserves. Their philosophy is simple - to create classic preserves from the tropical abundance at our doorstep, which represent the unique melting pot that is modern Singapore.
